Recent actions by North Carolina’s General Assembly have been called many things, but I couldn’t find the exact right word. So I coined one: pledgislation.
Our politicians are certainly not alone in succumbing to this impulse. It’s a human failing that crosses parties, creeds, geographical boundaries, etc. At heart, it is what happens when majorities impose their will on minorities.
